Saint Teresa of Calcutta was born on 26th August 1910 in the Republic of Macedonia, and baptised as Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu the following day. She was a nun and missionary, known as Mother Teresa before she was canonised on 4th September, 2016, where she became Saint Teresa of Calcutta. She devoted her life to caring for the sick and poor, and taught in India for 17 years. Her order established a hospice, with centres for the blind, aged and disabled, as well as a leper colony. She received a nobel price in 1979 for her humanitarian work. She passed away in September 1997, was beatified in October 2003 and canonised in September 2016.
