Saint Christopher is one of the most popular Catholic Christian heroes of the Faith. He was first referred to as Reprobus, a monster, with some describing him as a giant, with the head of a dog. He used to worship the Devil, thinking him the most powerful being. He served the Devil until he noticed him flinch away from the cross. Reprobus went in search for the Higher being, wanting to pledge his services and life to him. He came across Christians, and noticed them to be humble and weak in comparison, but with a strong faith in Jesus Christ. He came across two obstacles: he found it next to impossible to fast - most likely due to his high stature - and the Christians rejected him. He wandered and came across a hermit, who told him what he had to do to please Our Lord. He was informed to help people and travelers cross the dangerous river. He agreed and built himself a little hut by the river bank, and began helping people who arrived there over the river. One evening, Reprobus was getting ready to rest after a day of carrying people across, when a child approached his hut and asked to be taken over. It was cold, windy, and he was tired; everything was screaming at him to say no, but he agreed and took the child on his shoulders. He began crossing the river and, halfway through, the waters rised and the child at his back became unbelievably heavy. Despite almost giving up, he made it over. The child confided in Reprobus and told him that he was in fact Christ, and he bore him the name of Christopher, meaning "Christ bearer". He was then told to go to the Bishop and be baptised, now being known as Christopher and, as legend has it, he evangelised thousands of people. His life came to an end when an emperor in Lycia ordered him to offer a sacrifice and Christopher refused. Various attempts to have him killed failed, until he was arrested and beheaded.
