Our Lady of Fatima is a Catholic title of the Blessed Virgin Mary, based on the famed Marian apparitions in 1917 witnessed by three shepherd children in Fátima, Portugal: 9-year-old Lucia dos Santos and her cousins Francisco and Jacinta Marto. On 13th May 1917, the children reported seeing a woman "brighter than the Sun". The children reported a prophecy that prayer would lead to an end to the Great War. The Blessed Virgin Mary reappeared to the children a total of six times between 13th May and 13th October 1917. During this last apparition, the Virgin Mary reappeard and performed what is known as the "Miracle of the Sun", so that all would believe. Bishop José Alves Correia da Silva declared the events 'worthy of belief' on 13th October 1930.
