Our Lady of Loudes is a Roman Catholic title of the Blessed Virgin Mary, based on the famed Marian apparitions in 1858 witnessed by 14-year-old Bernadette Soubirous in the vicinity of Lourdes, France. The first apparition started on 11th February 1858, when Soubirous encountered the Virgin Mary apparition in a grotto while collecting firewood and bones in order to buy some bread. Bernadette was orderd by her parents to not visit the sight of the apparitions again, however she went and encountered the Blessed Virgin Mary visions on a few occassions. Bernadette was asked to dig in the ground and drink from the spring there - this water was given to medical patients of all kinds, and many reports of miraculous cures followed.Â
