Saint Adalbert was born in Bohemia of noble parentage. He was sent by his father to study at Magdeburg under the care of Bishop Adalbert. Here, Saint Adalbert was placed under the direction of a Holy monk, named Odericus, and remained here for 9 years. He made considerable progress and advances in sciences, especially in the sciences of Saints, for any free time he spent in Holy prayer, relieving the poor and visiting the sick. He returned to Bohemia and entered the ecclesiastical state at Prague, where he was ordained a sub deacon shortly before he died.
