Our Lady of the Rosary of Pompeii used a most unlikely choice of an instrument through which to conquest this unhappy city: Bartolo Longo. Once a devout satanist, Bartolo Longo was brought back to God by a good friend, Vincente Pepe. Bartolo proceeded to organise a parish mission to speak about devotion to the Holy Rosary. To conclude the mission, he planned to exhibit a painting of Our Lady - howevever, after a failed attempt of purchasing one from Naples, he was left with only one choice: to use the painting Mother Concetta had in her convent. Although this painting was worm-eaten and scraps of canvas were missing, he had promised a rendition of Our Lady, and so accepted this. The painting underwent a few restorations, and the construction of a new Church was underway. While it was being built, three outstanding miracles took place, and countless more after that. Those who were sick or dying, were suddently cured, when promises of helping construct the building were made, and other promises made to Our Lady of Pompeii.
